  • 1897

    David C Rock-Ola born in 1897 in Virden, Canada. 1914 at age 17 David sets up a cigar store business in the New Laurel Hotel.

  • 1927

    David C Rock-Ola forms Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation making 'Low-boy' Penny Scales, then Pinball Machines and various trade stimulators.

  • 1936

    Given the opportunity to install one of his famous ‘Multi-Selector’ jukeboxes on the Queen Mary for her maiden voyage David Rockola faced just one problem - a one hour time slot before she set sail.

    Undaunted, he strapped a jukebox to the top of a taxi and managed to get to New York’s harbour!

  • 1942

    During WW11 Rock-Ola produces M-1 carbine rifles, for the US Army

  • 1956

    Continuing a series of iconic fifties machines, Rock-Ola introduces the stunning 1454, which offered 120 selections from 60 records. 

  • 1958

    Rock-Ola creates the first wall-mounted Jukebox model 1464 with 100 music selections.

  • 1960

    The sixties saw many notable technical innovations but the company never lost sight of its aesthetic ideals, as evidenced by the fabulous automobile inspired Tempo I of 1960.​

  • 1988

    Rock-Ola launches the 'Sea View' Model, which could play both 45rpm singles and CD's

  • 1992

    Glenn Streeter, founder of the Antique Apparatus Company, buys Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation and moves production of Jukeboxes to his factory in Torrance, California.

  • 2008

    The first part of the 21st Century saw the company moving back towards the instantly recognisable and highly nostalgic 'Bubbler' designs of the early years, which were noted for their rotating multi-coloured pilasters and gently ascending gas bubbles.

  • July 2019

    Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation is acquired by Alexander-Waldersmith, a British entrepreneur with over 30 years sector experience​.
